I’m always digging around for the best understanding of my goals!
🌟 Here's how I approach a new research project with a big smile on my face:
Step 1: Happy Research Kickoff 🚀
I kick off every project with a team meeting that feels more like a brainstorming party! We share ideas, throw in some wild concepts, and set the vibe for a collaborative and creative journey ahead. I make sure to address the why of the project so I can always defend the project and honor the people who believe it is important. If we meet in-person, I always bring baked goods from home.
Step 2: Dance with Stakeholders 💃
I love meeting stakeholders and understanding their perspectives. It's like dancing to different beats – each conversation brings a new rhythm to the project. I'm jotting down their insights and concerns, making sure everyone's voice is heard in this funky research symphony.
Step 3: Jamming with the Users 🎸
To really get the party started, I set up user interviews and usability tests. Chatting with our users is like discovering new favorite songs – their experiences and feedback are the heart and soul of our research playlist. And guess what? They've got some rockstar insights!
Step 4: Moodboard Mania 🎨
Time to bring out the creative juices! I like to create moodboards to visually capture the essence of our users' experiences. It's like curating a gallery of emotions and ideas, and it's helping me and the team vibe with the user mindset. While I believe personas do have a place in User Experience Research, this is a much more collaborative experience that leaves nobody’s voice out.
Step 5: Data Disco 💽
Analyzing data might sound a bit serious, but hey, it's another chance to dig in and explore! I go through the research findings with a rhythm, identify patterns, and find the beats that will lead us to meaningful conclusions. Data analysis can be fun, and I never shy away from it!
Step 6: Prototyping Party 🎉
Once I have some solid insights, it's time to prototype! I work on creating interactive designs that will make our users want to dance through the product. It's like choreographing a UX ballet, and I'm making sure every move feels just right. If it is above my skill level, I take my wireframes to a more skilled UX designer.
Step 7: User Testing Jamboree 🎊
We then gear up for the big user testing jamboree! I invite our users to test out our prototypes and give us feedback. It's like hosting a UX carnival – fun, interactive, and filled with valuable insights.
I'm confident our prototypes are always going to be a hit, but I also listen and respect the users to make sure their communication is heard! Cheers to joyful research adventures! 🎉✨
Quantitative Research
Difficult to spell, fun to do
As a junior user experience researcher with a penchant for quantitative research, I bring to the table robust data synthesizing skills backed by proficiency in R, Python, and Excel. I began my college journey as a computer science major, and this allowed me to become quite skilled at different programming languages. I also love using Excel functions in a pinch to quickly update date and charts.
In the realm of coding, I consider R and Python to be my tools of the trade. I adeptly script data analyses, unraveling intricate insights pertaining to user behavior, interaction patterns, and other quantitative metrics. These languages serve as my key instruments in transforming raw data into actionable findings.
Excel is another arena where I showcase my prowess. Leveraging its functionalities, I meticulously organize data, employ formulas, and generate visually impactful charts. Pivot tables and conditional formatting are my allies in refining complex datasets into coherent and digestible formats.
However, my true forte lies in the synthesis of data. Beyond the mere manipulation of numbers, I craft a narrative that translates raw data into a comprehensible and strategic story. Think of it as transforming a spreadsheet into an insightful report, wherein I extract meaningful patterns, trends, and user insights.
My approach is not just analytical but also strategic. I delve into the intricacies of quantitative research, extracting pertinent information and weaving it into a cohesive tapestry. I am dedicated to producing visualizations that not only inform but also contribute to a deeper understanding of user experiences.
In the realm of user experience research, I view data not just as an assortment of numbers, but as a pivotal element in understanding our users. With a blend of technical proficiency and strategic acumen, I am committed to synthesizing data with a cheerful yet professional demeanor.
